Fees and FAQ’s

  • A psychologist is a trained professional who helps people understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. You might see a psychologist if you are feeling anxious, depressed, stressed, or struggling with relationships, grief, trauma, parenting difficulties or major life changes.  A psychologist has knowledge and expertise in these conditions and also in human behaviour. They would use their knowledge and skills to help you make sense of what you are going through, and provide some practical tools to feel and cope better.

  • All of our Psychologists have completed 6 years of formal education in Psychology and have obtained a Masters of Clinical Psychology. This includes a two year full-time postgraduate degree course that provides supervised training in the assessment, diagnosis and formulation of a wide range of mental health disorders, and in the delivery of evidence-based therapeutic techniques to treat these disorders.

  • Your first session is an Assessment session. Your psychologist will ask questions about your current concerns and symptoms, and relevant background information to better understand how to help you. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you are welcome to ask questions about therapy and the treatment approaches used. Treatment usually begins after the first session.

  • Fees are payable in full at the end of each session by credit card, EFTPOS, or direct deposit. If you have a valid referral, Medicare rebates are processed after the session. An out-of-pocket cost applies to each appointment. Please contact us for our current fees.

  • Yes. Eve, Marlene and Lily are registered Providers under Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health initiative. With a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, you can claim a rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year (1 January to 31 December).

  • To access rebates, you need a referral and MHTP from a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician (most commonly a GP). This usually requires a longer appointment with your GP and includes an assessment of your mental health to determine eligibility. Eligible conditions include diagnosed mental disorders such as anxiety and depression.

If approved, your GP will typically refer you for six sessions initially. A review appointment is required after the sixth session to access further sessions. A MHTP allows access to up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions per calendar year. Please bring your referral and MHTP to your first appointment.

  • No. You can see a psychologist without a referral, however you will not be eligible for Medicare rebates without a MHTP.
